On November 7, 2022, Dr Robert S. Abrams passed away peacefully surrounded by his family. While he is not here physically, we can look for, and embrace, all the gifts he left for each of us. Whether you were his patient, his friend, a co-worker, his brother, his parents, his children, other family members or his wife, we have ALL been blessed to have known Dr. Robert Abrams. To have heard his words of wisdom, felt his gentle touch, laughed at his subtle humor, listened to his suggestions of best dishes at restaurants, current art exhibitions or upcoming concerts; these were treasures that we all have experienced. Or, perhaps it was some private exchange of honest or poetic thoughts that made you look at life in a more complete, meaningful and joyful way. These were our gifts.
Dr. Abrams was given a gift as well. He was given the gift of life and no matter the amount of time, he used every moment to fill his days with meaningful actions, music, art, reading, comedy shows and the unique ability to show his love and care for every life he touched.
My family and I are grateful for all the emails, notes and cards expressing your abundant love and the support that each of you has given to our family during these difficult months. We love them and if you would like to share any more memories with us please email us at: RSAmemories@gmail.com.
Just as Dr. Abrams was a rare find, so was his diagnosis of Cholangiocarcinoma, a rare disease. While he held his health matters with the utmost of privacy, as a family, we are sharing this information so you all understand just how grateful we are for the support and work of the Cholangiocarcinoma Foundation (CCF). It is the CCF’s hope to find a cure and in the meantime provide support, research, and advocacy for patients/caregivers. If you would like to read more about Cholangiocarcinoma and the work of the CCF or make a donation in memory/honor of Dr. Abrams, please visit Dr. Abrams’ page at the Cholangiocarcinoma Foundation (CCF) website.
We lost a special man and an incredibly patient, caring and compassionate doctor. Rest in Peace, Our Beloved Healer. We love you with every piece of our hearts.
